This guide walks you through the everyday actions you will take in BBC Clerk: keeping your profile current, making and responding to requests, and logging time in the ledger.
Helpful Tips
Keep your family profile updated.
Update your request if details change.
Try to prioritize offers from families that have not been active yet this month, or who have lower balances.
After a request is assigned, coordinate outside the site as necessary.
Log ledger entries soon after requests are completed to keep the ledger accurate.
Dashboard
The dashboard shows the latest notices, activities, updates, and quick links.
Check it when you sign in for reminders or time-sensitive messages.
Select the appropriate type of request for your need: Babysit, Drive, or Favor.
Keep request descriptions short and specific for easier scanning.
Set the date (required) and start/end time (optional) for your request, checking the appropriate boxes if they are flexible.
Complete the rest of the fields for your selected request type.
Retainer hours
If your request is to cover an important appointment, you can set the Retainer Hours.
This allows you to assign up to 2 backups to your request, who must commit to remaining available to cover the request if the primary helper becomes unavailable for any reason.
As a reward, they will receive the retainer hours upon completion of the request if they are not called upon.
If they are needed, the requestor will need to update them to Primary before the request date is past so they can submit a ledger entry for the request.
Get offers to help
Members will see your request and can offer to help.
You can see offers to help below the request, with details on whether that family has used this month and their current balance.
Multiple families may offer to help, you must select a specific offer to assign it to your request.
If you set Retainer Hours, you may assign up to 2 backup offers to your request, and set their assignment order.
Coordinate with your assigned helpers outside this site as required.
Browse open requests use the request details to understand the need and offer support.
Review the date, time, and location before responding.
Leave an optional message with how you can help.
Multiple families may submit offers to help, if your offer is accepted then coordinate directly with the requester.
If you offered to help on a request with Retainer Hours and are assigned as Primary, you will be expected to complete the request. If you are assigned as a Secondary/Tertiary, you will be expected to remain available as a backup.
If you offered to help on a request but are no longer able to, please go back and cancel your offer so the requester can select another helper.
